When the U.S. troop surge was announced in late 2009, women in Afghanistan knew that the ground was being laid for peace talks with the Taliban. Peace Unveiled follows three women in Afghanistan who are risking their lives to make sure that women have a seat at the negotiating table. Episode Three in PBS' ongoing documentary series will be screened 6:30 p.m. tonight at the Chicago Cultural Center's Claudia Cassidy Theater as the kick-off to the new season of ITV's Community Cinema series. Tonight's screening is presented by WBEZ 91.5 FM and Chicago Foundation for Women, Women and Girls Lead.
Oktoberfest
Small Bar Division (2049 W. Division St.) gets into the autumnal spirit Saturday from 7-10 p.m. with fun draft offerings focusing on classic Oktoberfest beer and breweries as well as domestic harvest ales and fall favorites from local brewers. The highlight of the night will be a cask of Harvest Spice Ironworks Alt from Metropolitan Brewing.
