Drunk Man Steals and Crashes Ambulance
Police say an intoxicated man stole an ambulance and struck several vehicles before ultimately crashing it about a mile and a half down the road. Police say that at 1:40 a.m., Juan Hernandez, 36, took the ambulance from Norwegian-American Hospital in Humboldt Park while paramedics were loading an empty stretcher into it. He crashed it in the 2500 block of w. Cortland in the West Bucktown neighborhood, then required another ambulance for his injuries, which were minor. Hernandez was charged with possession of a stolen motor vehicle, criminal damage to government property, reckless driving, driving under the influence and driving without a license.
