2011_10_3IzardBook.jpg If you're a fan of Stephanie Izard (and what Chicagoan isn't, at this point), you should already know about her new book, which is currently available at your local bookstore or online retailer. Girl in the Kitchen, written with Heather Shouse, collects some of Izard's best recipes and it's a lot cheaper than dinner at Girl and the Goat. On the other hand, if price isn't your primary concern, the book's launch party is Wednesday, and promises to be one hell of a night.

Izard will be gathering up some of Chicago's best chefs, including Chris Pandel, Paul Virant, Rick Gresh, Giuseppe Tentori, Gilbert Langlois, Dale Levitsky and Jesse Oloroso. They will be cooking dishes inspired by the book, and the entire evening will be lubricated by cocktails by Ben Schiller. The event starts at 7:30 p.m. and tickets are $100 - and still available. Given the star power of the chefs - and the prices of dinners at their respective restaurants - this almost seems like a bargain. Plus, you can get your own copy of the book to impress your friends; maybe Izard will even smear some authentic cooking stains on it. Buy tickets online now.

The event is a benefit for Share our Strength, a non-profit dedicated to ending childhood hunger, so your $100 won't just be going towards tasty food and drinks. Salvage One is the host venue - which means the party will have an amazing backdrop - 60,000 square feet of space, architectural found objects and other craziness to wander through. You may leave with more than a full belly.
