Soup and Bread Readies Cookbook No. 2

By Chuck Sudo in Food on Oct 5, 2011 7:49PM

2011_10_5_soup_bread_cookbook.gif The Soup and Bread team of writer Martha Bayne, designer Sheila Sachs and illustrator Paul Dolan produced a beautiful spiral-bound self-published cookbook a couple of years back. For their second cookbook, Soup and Bread turned to Evanston's Agate Publishing.

The results aren't spiral bound but no less stunning to read or just stare at for hours. To celebrate the release of Soup and Bread Cookbook: Building Community One Pot at a Time, Bayne and company are throwing a book release party at Hideout from 7-9 p.m. Nov. 2. It's a fitting choice: Hideout is where the Soup and Bread started and has hosted it religiously the past three winters.

Soups for the night will be provided by Swim Cafe, Mana Food Bar, Milk & Honey, West Town Tavern, the Butcher and Larder, Revolution Brewing, and others. Bread will be provided from La Farine Bakery. Revolution Brewing will provide the beer and proceeds from the party will benefit the Greater Chicago Food Depository.

(Disclosure: I've contributed recipes to both Soup and Bread cookbooks.)

Soup and Bread Book Release Party, 7-9 p.m. Nov. 2 at Hideout (1354 W. Wabansia Ave.). Free.
