A Cook County judge ruled for the body of one of the victims of the late serial killer John Wayne Gacy to be exhumed for testing.

Sherry Marino, mother of Michael Marino, has long doubted her son was one of Gacy's victims. Michael Marino went missing in 1976 but his mother and other family members had long noted discrepancies between the Cook County Medical Examiner's autopsy and Michael Marino's medical and dental records in petitioning for the request.

Judge Rita M. Novak granted Sherry Marino the exhumation request, who in turn withdrew her request for Cook County to cover the exhumation fees, which could cost as much as $10,000. The body will be exhumed from Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside, where DNA samples from the body will be taken for testing to prove whether the body in question is Michael Marino's.
