Gary Seniors Center an Illegal Gambling House

2011_7_11_video_poker.jpg A Gary, IN social club for seniors was doubling as a makeshift lounge and casino. Indiana State Excise Police charged 58-year-old Jesse James Sturgis - and isn't that a perfect name for the owner of an illegal gaming house - with serving alcohol without a permit and promoting professional gambling. It was Sturgis' second arrest on these charges in less than a year.

A dozen others, ranging in age from 50 to 87, are charged with visiting a common nuisance. Police seized a craps table, beer and liquor during the raid. No five-cent slot machines, eh?
