Columbus Day Means Closures, Parades, Protests

No, Melody Joy Kramer, they didn't have trolleys back in Columbus' time.
Today is Columbus Day, which is a federal holiday. That means courthouses and government offices are closed today. So are most banks. Parking meters still need to be fed. (Thank you, Mayor Daley. Thank you.)

Public transportation services are running on normal schedules, which is a good thing as the annual Columbus Day Parade is set to start at 12:30 on Columbus Drive, from Balbo north to Monroe. Another march that's happening at 4 p.m. today is a protest march involving Occupy Chicago protestors and multiple unions. They'll be marching from the Board of Trade to CPS headquarters, City Hall and the Art Institute.

Wait a minute. Today is a federal holiday. The Federal Reserve Bank won't be open, the Board of Trade is in a sound proof room and the markets close before the march starts off, both CPS and City Hall observe the holiday and the Art Institute is closed on Mondays. Who exactly is the audience of the Occupy Chicago march?
