Pop star Selena Gomez is the subject of a death threat that is said to be so serious she's obtained a restraining order and the LAPD is investigating.

Curiously, the death threat against Gomez has a Chicago connection. The man who allegedly made the threat against Gomez is one Thomas Brodnicki. Brodnicki was arrested here in 2008 for stalking a woman he met in a Des Plaines convenience store both online and in real life 11 years ago.

According to court records filed by Gomez and her attorney, Brodnicki told his therapist he traveled from Chicago to Los Angeles to meet her; visited her workplace on at least three occasions; and told people he had conversations with God about killing her. Brodnicki was picked up a month ago after allegedly screaming at passers-by on the street that he would "scratch their eyes out." He supposedly made further threats against Gomez during a mental evaluation
