Fox Chicago Follows Tea Party Leader to Occupy Chicago, with Predictable Results

Fox Chicago political editor Mike Flannery and his camera crew followed Chicago Tea Patriots founder Catherina Wojtowicz to the Occupy Chicago protests, along with a union electrician, Larry Roberts. We're surprised Fox Chicago or NBC Chicago hadn't done this sooner.

Anyway, Flannery asked both Roberts and Wojtowicz their opinions of the protests. Roberts sympathized with the movement and understood what they were protesting. Wojtowicz said some nonsense about the protests being chaotic and that some of the protesters had "allies in Iran (pronounced I-Ran), Chinese and Russian governments."

Astute readers will remember Wojtowicz called for Chicago Tea Party leader Stevan Stevlic to resign after Gawker discovered Stevlic's June 2010 prostitution bust, which was dropped after he agreed to participate in a rehabilitation program. Wojtowicz also was named by Keith Olbermann to his "Worst Person in the World" list she and other tea partiers heckled a woman whose daughter had died as a result of not having health insurance.

We aren't dealing with the deepest of thinkers here.

  • Catherine Wojtowitcz led an attack on my wife at Congressman Lipinski's town hall in November 2009 when she tried to share the story of losing our daughter in law and unborn grandchild due in large part to having no access to standard healthcare that could have prevented an acute illness from taking hold and eventually taking their lives. In sharing the story, she was trying to illustrate how the current healthcare system hurt all Americans, from the family losing a loved one to the larger society that ended up footing a $50 million plus tab from over 55 days in intensive care to try to reverse a situation that never should have happened to begin with.  But no Catherine would have none of it, and she led her so called Patriots in a jeering, shouting and even laughing at my wife as she tried to share the story and its impact (to see what occurred, go here > http://www.youtube.com/watch?v...  In the aftermath, when she was called out and properly vilified for her actions, she then pursued my family with threats of harm and revenge. Why any media outlet would provide a platform for person like Ms. Wojtowitcz is beyond me.  She is an awful human being with absolutely no redeeming qualities that I, or anyone else I know of has seen or experienced.  While at one time I had some respect for Mike Flannery as a journalist in Chicago, which is no longer the case.  It is obvious he did not bother to take the time to learn the truth about Ms. Wojtowicz and find out just how dangerous she can be.  Mr. Flannery, and the entire Fox News Chicago organization should be ashamed for their part in letting this woman appear on their program.  Doing so is an insult to all reasonable and fair minded Chicagoans.

Ms. Wojtowicz is a friend of a friend of mine on Facebook.  As such, she and I had a sparring match a while back about the meaning of the Constitutional requirement that our federal government promote the general welfare.  While I took the literal meaning of that phrase, she interpreted it as meaning promote the corporate welfare and screw everyone else.  I can see why Olbermann named her one of his worst persons in the world.

"I think they want the rich to pay their fair share. And I agree with them 100 percent," she said. "[But] I've spoken to them and they want free tuition, free health care, free housing. And, no, it doesn't work like that. Who's gonna make the money, you know?"The solution? I mean, let the free markets work," Wojtowicz said.
The cognitive dissonance in this statement is staggering. For over 30 years we've subsidized big business and financiers to the tune of trillions of dollars annually, either through direct government hand-out to Oil and Ag corporations (to name just a few) or through tax breaks, credits and loopholes.

Let the free market work? Sure, as soon as we can cut off the corporate welfare queens, I'm willing to give it a try.

Well it's disingenuous to call those wants "free", unfortunately protestors do that too.  It's like saying I want "free" social security.  Education, and health care should be provided by the state, just as they are in more advanced societies than ours. They are paid for by a more egalitarian taxation system.  As for free markets, there's no such thing, and there never will be.

"allies in Iran (pronounced I-Ran), Chinese and Russian governments."

Did she really say that?  *wow*.   Lunatic. Does she know our monetary relations with China? Or that most of our goods are produced there? Does she know that businessmen and government leaders are dealing with China daily? If only OWS was as up on "reality" as her.....
