Why do we seem to have problems dealing with high winds when we live in a city nicknamed "The Windy City?" The winds seem to be tapering off outside Chicagoist's Bridgeport headquarters as of post time, but last night was a windy version of Devil's Night along the lakefront and downtown.
Samantha led off last night's "Extra Extra" with the news winds blew out a window at a high-rise. Gusts of up to 60 MPH forced the closing of the lakefront path, where waves of up to 25 feet high crashed onto the path, and still are.
And we have no explanation as to why there were still boats on Lake Michigan yesterday. between 16 to 20 boats on the lake near Museum Campus were knocked off their moorings and crashed into the concrete breakwater. Several of the boats sunk.
