Emanuel, Quinn to Announce Labor Deal at McCormick Place

After a clash over work-rule changes that labor leaders took to court last year, two unions representing workers at McCormick Place have called a truce.

Officials from Teamsters Local 727 and the Chicago Regional Council of Carpenters have reportedly negotiated a deal aimed at keeping convention costs down in a bid to recover Chicago’s standing in the trade show business.

Mayor Rahm Emanuel and Gov. Pat Quinn are expected to announce the news during a press conference at the convention center at 11 a.m. “This is the worst news for Orlando and Las Vegas: McCormick Place is open for business,” Emanuel said
