First Look: Wow Bao Food Truck

By Anthony Todd in Food on Oct 25, 2011 6:40PM

Fans of Wow Bao, rejoice! If you can't make it to any of their 5 Chicago locations, they will now be coming to you: the Wow Bao Food Truck launches tomorrow. We got a sneak peek of the truck around lunchtime today.

First thing to know - it's a bit smaller than some food trucks. When you're looking for it, keep in mind that it's more of a van than a truck. In fact, Wow Bao converted one of their old commissary trucks they used to use to move product from one location to another. They gutted the inside, added a hot box (no cooking, remember) and will be selling out of the side door. They'll haul 4 types of bao to start, including spicy Mongolian beef, BBQ pork, whole wheat edamame, chicken teriyaki. We hope to see just about everything else sold in their stores. They will also be selling Fresh Ginger Ale by Bruce Cost - the same sold at Foodlife, based on a recipe from Big Bowl.

Prices are pretty reasonable - $5 for a box with 2 bao, $3 for ginger ale, $1 for water.

Eater Chicago informs us that that the first location for the truck will be 600 W. Chicago Avenue, tomorrow at 11:30.

Here's hoping they make it to our office as often as possible! Follow Wow Bao on Twitter for more info.
