Artists Team Up for Apocalypse Calendar

By Chuck Sudo in Arts & Entertainment on Oct 27, 2011 7:30PM

This year we've had two Rapture predictions come and go with no change in Earth's population; no Acts of God killing us; the saints and sinners still coexisting, at least until the Mayan Apocalypse comes around in December 2012.

Thomas Quinn is a local illustrator who decided to have some fun with the persistent cries of the end of the world as we know it and is spearheading a calendar of the myriad ways true believers have predicted the world would end: solar radiation; pestilence outbreaks; nuclear war; the rise of the machines.

Quinn's project is a calendar dedicated to the ways we've been told the world would end with local artists Jenny Frison, Jay Ryan, Sean Dove, Steve Seeley and Ryan Browne among the contributors. Quinn has also taken to Kickstarter in an attempt to raise the necessary funds for the project.

More than just some amazing artwork, the Apocalypse Calendar will contain significant events in the planet's history, including the births of notable people throughout history. Depending on how much you pledge, you might even be recognized in the calendar. Quinn's already exceeded his $7,500 goal with four days left in his pledge drive.

After that, the calendar will be for sale at the Apocalypse Calendar website. We should all buy one so we can count down the days to the Mayan Apocalypse together.
