Get Your Scare On: A List of Free Streaming Horror Movies

Last year film critic Roger Ebert posted a "not a list" list of ten films for Halloween that were available for free streaming online. All of them were more than 60 years old; many of them were in the public domain; all of them were chosen by Ebert for serious film buffs.

In that spirit we browsed YouTube, MUBI, the National Archives and other sites for our own choices. Unlike Ebert's recommendations, this is a list. It's intended for film buffs of all levels and folks who just want to have a good fright tonight. If you have Apple TV or a way to view streams on your television, these are perfect for home theater owners.

The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari

Bram Stoker's Dracula

Bride of the Monster

White Zombie

Snake People

Carnival of Souls

The Brain That Wouldn't Die

Dementia 13

The Devil Bat

Nosferatu

Scariest film I ever saw was Pretty Woman and my girlfriend said "why don't you give me beautiful (expensive) gifts?", and I said "why don't you act like a whore in bed?"  I didn't get any for a month.
