The woman convicted of forcing women and girls as young as 16 into prostitution has been sentenced to eight years in prison. Rubicela Montero, 40, pleaded guilty to one count of involuntary sexual servitude of a minor after one of her victims reported her to the National Human Trafficking Resource Center. ABC writes:
She (Montero) further admitted to placing newspaper ads, scheduling clients, negotiating rates for sex acts, providing the girls with condoms, and threatening the victims when they attempted to quit working for her, the release said.
Cook County State's Attorney Anita Alvarez called it a "horrific crime," and we're just glad the victim had the human trafficking resource center to turn to for help.
