CTA Arrives - Expectedly Late - to Twitter

2011_11_1_cta_virgin_tweet.jpg

Congratulations to the Chicago Transit Authority for finally setting up an official Twitter feed. Befitting the maligned public transportation agency, this probably should have happened years ago.

If the front page to their feed means anything, CTA will probably tweet in groups of 3-5 tweets over a 20-minute period, then you won't see anything for another hour.

Mixing all of the -ist feeds sucks. I was trying to stay open minded about it, but I can honestly say that it pisses me off when I think I am clicking on a local Chicago story and it turns out to be a local story somewhere else. For some national interest stories it's fine, but not local stories.

Oh, and who is sending me the tweets @ctatweet? They're pretty good and useful. They're not from the CTA?

Agreed, I've clicked on a number of stories thinking they were Chicago related, or had a local angle only to go to Gothamist or whatever.  It's a bit annoying.  I'll leave it at that. /whine
