Occupy Chicago Shows Solidarity for Oakland

By aaroncynic in News on Nov 3, 2011 7:15PM

Last night Occupy Chicago held a march to stand in solidarity with the general strike in Oakland. More than 400 people assembled in front of the Federal Reserve, including students from DePaul, UIC and other local universities, who held a walk out at 5 p.m.

Activists marched from the Federal Reserve, past City Hall to hold speak-outs in both Daley Plaza and at the Thompson Center. After many demonstrators spoke about their involvement and goals in the Occupy movement as well as police actions in Oakland and here in Chicago they headed to Congress Park for the nightly general assembly meeting.

Tens of thousands of people took to the streets of Oakland for a general strike, the first in America in more than half a century.
