Greenhouse Loft: Chicago's Newest Sustainable Venue

By Elisa Revello in News on Nov 4, 2011 7:00PM

Hosting an event, community gathering, wedding, holiday party, or other celebration? Check out Chicago’s premier sustainable venue, Greenhouse Loft. The new space, opening today, is housed in a Platinum LEED certified building and is part of the Green Exchange, a green business network that connects and promotes eco-friendly businesses.

Constructed with sustainability in mind, Greenhouse Loft is a 3,500 square-foot venue with both indoor and outdoor space that holds up to 250 people. The loft has a sky garden and large windows throughout, which are not only energy efficient but also aesthetically pleasing. Greenhouse Loft uses a high-quality heating and cooling system that limits the energy use. The loft is also equipped with filters and sensors to improve air quality.

The owners of the venue already employ eco-friendly practices in their West Loop location so constructing this venue in a LEED-certified building was an opportunity to further support the green movement. The Greenhouse Loft has a comprehensive recycling program in place, complete with composting, and the goal is to come as close as possible to achieving zero waste. Another added bonus is the owners give customers access to an extensive collection of mid-century furniture, thereby reducing the environmental and financial costs of transportation.
