Chicago Comedian TJ Miller Does Comedy Central Special

Comedian TJ Miller cut his teeth at Second City and iO before heading to Los Angeles, where he has appeared in a few notable films (Cloverfield, She's Out of Your League) and is a regular on "Chelsea Lately." Next week Comedy Central will premiere Miller's one-hour stand-up special, "TJ Miller: No Real Reason" on Saturday, Nov. 12 at 10 p.m. CT. We caught Miller when he returned to his old stomping grounds the Chicago Underground Comedy showcase in September to celebrate the release of his comedy rap album, the 41-track (yes 41) The Extended Play EP.

Above is a video of Miller's recent appearance on Conan. He doesn't exactly tackle cutting edge comedy topics, but who doesn't love a well executed airplane bit?

Dude was awesome in Our Idiot Brother. And I don't mind someone answering criticism here on Chicagoist. People are real people, too.

i hope thats a fake account.  posting multiple times answering criticism of yourself when no one else is saying anything is one of the worst kinds of NAGL.

So you're just going to ignore the pistachios issue? Typical.

  • Sorry the comedy wasn't more cutting edge, but if you just threw out your entire act after doing a special and you found out Saturday you were doing Conan Wed. to promote the special, you'd use whatever you had that worked the best as well.  Next time I'll do bits on how Burn Notice and cable television is so weirdly infatuating to my nephew....

  • And also, I think the pistachios character speaks to our ennui as a general culture, about the bigger things in life... opinions about those bigger things have been replaced by useless passions about useless things...

  • I do love Almond Butter though.  Like a motherfucker.
