What Alcohol Should You Consume When Listening to Certain Bands? Drinkify Has Suggestions

2011_11_08_drinkify.png
Drinkify is a new quirky website that suggests drinks that suit what you're listening to, and we decided to check out what it had to say about some Chicago bands. When you go to the site and search for a band, a drink and a song pop up -- check the volume before you start searching. It's clear they just put together a simple hack and designed a pretty site behind it, and in fact it was designed in just 24 hours during Boston's Music Hack Day last weekend. It's all in good fun.

Some of their suggestions for Chicago bands are way off: Cocaine does NOT match Cheap Trick, and what is Southern or Comforting about Alkaline Trio aside from the fact that most people lose a taste for both after college? But some suggestions are spot on. We think organic red wine is the perfect complement to Wilco, and what goes better with Local H than Maker's Mark? Which of these do you think is accurate?

Wilco: 1 bottle Organic red wine. Serve at room temperature. Garnish with sugar.
Cheap Trick: 1 oz. Cocaine. 1 oz. Tabasco sauce. 8 oz. Lemon juice.
Chicago: 6 oz. Tequila Reposado. Serve neat. Garnish with twist of grapefruit.
Local H: 6 oz. Maker's Mark Bourbon. Serve on rocks. Stir quickly. Garnish with olive.
Andrew Bird: 1 oz. Cachaça. 1 oz. Grenadine. Combine in highball glass and serve.
Kill Hannah: 1 PBR. Serve cold. Garnish with nutmeg.
Billy Corgan: 1 bottle Buckfast. Serve at room temperature. Garnish with wedge of pineapple.
Styx: 1 Bud Light. Serve cold. Garnish with pickled asparagus.
Alkaline Trio: 10 oz. Southern Comfort. Serve on rocks. Stir vigorously. Garnish with fresh berries.
Jon Langford: 1 Miller High Life. Serve cold.
Fall Out Boy: 1 PBR. Serve cold. Garnish with umbrella.
Lupe Fiasco: 2 oz. Hennessy. 2 oz. Grapefruit juice. 2 oz. Chilli pepper Vodka. Combine in shaker and strain into cocktail glass. Serve. Garnish with cucumber.

You can also type in random words and see if they happen to be bands. We tried out our editors' names, and only Chuck's is accurate. Chuck is a cold PBR, Sam is a neat chilli pepper vodka (ew), Jim is Jack, tonic and Maotai, and Anthony is a cold Bud Light.
