Bluesman Arrested for Acting Out Cliches

2011_11_14_tubbs.jpg We've long said Chicago blues traffics in cliche, but we never thought we'd see a news item where that carried over into the crime blotter.

Edwin Summers is accused of hitting his girlfriend over the head with his guitar. Summers allegedly told police he assaulted his girlfriend with his guitar because she "messed" with it, which led to this money quote Summers told police.

“When a woman messes with my guitar, she messes with my world."

No word on what brand of guitar was or if it had a nickname like Lucille, Lucy, Uncle Dick, Mr. Scary, or Frankenstein. Maybe Summers can call his guitar "The Bludgeon" after this.

Summers was convicted in April of domestic battery, sentenced to 60 days in jail and one year of probation. He bail was set at $40,000 Sunday. Should give him some time to write a song about it.

All of his tunes will now become indictments against him!

Some guitarists refer to their guitars as their "axe" - thankfully, this guitarist didn't take that term literally!
