In Pictures: Last Night's Chicagoist Reader Meetup

On behalf of the staff, I want to thank everyone who came out to our reader meetup at the Owl last night. I truly hope a fun time was had by everyone involved. We even got to see a rare appearance by BlueFairlane. (Trust me: he's a stand-up guy.)

Congratulations to readers Justin S. and Michael V. for each winning a remastered Pink Floyd catalog! (And to the guy who looked like he was going to whip my ass after Justin won the raffle, sorry.)

Big ups to Bridgeport Pasty Co. for bringing their electric space age bubble cart loaded with pies. I think Claudio the Tamale Man saw his future when he swung by last night. And we can't end this without name-checking Do312 and The Owl for hosting and helping to facilitate this. It was a blast.

We don't do these events as often as we'd like and we're going to try to do them more. We already have another one in the works, so stay tuned.

I really have to drag my @55 to one of these soon.

Sad I missed out on it. Hopefully I'll get to meet ya'll at the next one.

  • You were among those I was hoping to meet, but then I saw the shots from the TV helicopters before I walked out the door and  figured you'd be otherwise occupied. (See what I did there?) So, next time.

I see what you both did there! But, someone's got to get the goods on what's going on. Besides, Chuck only likes the most photogenic of the Chicagoist bunch at events. The rest of us are kept firmly hidden away in the bowels of the internet.

Maybe they can have the next one at Occupy.

I wonder what was being said that made me cock my eyebrow like that. It's kind of a hilarious pic.

  • I had a lot of fun meeting and re-meeting you guys, as you're all pretty enoyable folk. Tank's as decent a fellow as I expected, but Gilmer? He's something of a wild man. He's hilarious in a way that does my southern heart proud. If you do it again, I'm there.

And ChiD? Just so you know, I'm not in any of the pictures. Try to control your disappointment.

  • This is the first time I think anyone has called me normal and Gilmer a "wild man!"

And it was a pleasure meeting and chatting with you last night!

    I'm so disappointed. Bastards.

Y'all are so young. So damn young.

That's because my old man ass was behind the camera. Keeps the median age low. - Chuck

But, who ARE these people? I mean, their real names are fine and all, but who ARE they?

P.S. I was not lurking or anything. Had solo parenting duty last night, and pre-K's stick out like sore thumbs in bars. They're so sloppy.

Kids are just tiny drunk people.
