Meet Anthony Miranda, a 24-year-old with an extensive arrest record that includes a conviction for residential burglary. Miranda was out and about doing what he does best Friday night on the Southwest side when he decided to rob a man in a parked car. The man complied with Miranda and gave him his money, but that wasn't enough for Miranda, who ordered the man out of the car.

What happened next can be called either divine intervention, alert thinking, or karma coming back to bite Miranda in his ass. Miranda's attention was diverted, which allowed the man in the car to grab Miranda's gun. In the ensuing scuffle, Miranda accidentally shot himself in the ankle. The man Miranda also decided to rob was a martial arts expert and ultimate fighter, so a gunshot wound to the ankle was the least of Miranda's injuries.

When police arrived at the scene, the man had Miranda subdued, to say the least. Miranda is now charged with armed robbery and aggravated discharge of a firearm, a Class X felony. He's held in Cook County jail on a $350,000 bond. We're going to take kickboxing lessons.

  • His face is yellow for two reasons. Partly from the bruises and partly from the Iodine they used to keep his numerous cuts from getting infected.

Sadly, since he is in Illinois where politicians and courts have more sympathy for the criminals than the victims, he will get a short sentence.  This will allow him the time to buff up with the prison yard, gladiator training, weight equipment. Then he will likely be paroled while still in his twenties, at which point he will just start shooting his victims; taking their possessions after they bleed out. Unfortunately, since IL and Chicago do not allow CCW, he will have an easy killing field. The victim would have been well within his rights, and the police should not have found him alive when they arrived.

    Why is his face yellow?

I hope the police revoked this criminal's gun license that I'm presuming he has for the firearm since he's a Chicago resident.

I would love to know who the UFC fighter is.

  • Fantastic news, the more citizens stand up to the thugs the more they will fear committing crime.  The beating this guy got is just the start.  Can't wait for what bubba has in store for him.  Better not drop the soap.  Give him life without parole.

  • Hopefully they read him his Miranda rights.

    YYYYYEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I love this story.

  • good.
