Cops Follow Bloody Paw Prints To Discover Brutal Dog Abuse

A terrier mix is in stable condition after police found children trying to beat it with baseball bats and broomsticks. Police responded to a 911 call in East Garfield Park and upon approaching, the children fled. The dog ran to the doorstep of a nearby house, where the owner had decided she didn't want it anymore. The Tribune writes:

Officers found the dog’s owner, Lashon Parks, 42, hadn’t been giving the animal water or food and had left it outside in temperatures below 25-degrees for an unidentified amount of time, police said.

Parks told officers that she owned the dog for ten years but no longer wanted it and allowed a relative to let it loose outside to “get rid of it,’’ the report said.

The woman was charged with cruelty to animals, and the pup is receiving medical attention.
