Today in "Drew Peterson keeps himself in the news:" Bolingbrook's favorite ex-cop with the unique kavorka is using a case of a woman who went missing 18 years ago and was recently discovered to be alive as a foundation demand an apology from the Illinois State Police for publicly stating they believe Peterson's fourth wife Stacey is "missing and presumed dead."

Judith Bello — pronounced "Yudith" — went missing without a trace in Standwood, WA in 1993, allegedly because her husband was abusive, and left behind two kids. Bello recently contacted authorities and her former brother-in-law to let her know she was living in Fontana, CA with a new husband, three kids and a new identity.

Peterson's attorney, Joel Brodsky, used the Bello case to highlight that, if it can happen to Bello, then maybe Stacey Peterson did just up and run as Drew claims.

“There is a huge cloud of suspicion cast over Drew Peterson because of the Illinois State Police’s statement that Stacy Peterson is presumed dead; however there is absolutely no evidence to support that statement. They made it seem like no woman, no mother, would ever just disappear, but as this most recent case shows, it does happen. In fact it happens more often than you would think.”

Brodsky also said in the statement that Stacey's mother left when she was young. “In Stacy’s mind disappearing may be ‘normal.'" (Joel Brodsky is almost as classy as Peterson.)

And here in America, the courts still say we're innocent until proven guilty. It's also possible that Stacey Peterson did simply vanish into thin air.

But Drew Peterson hasn't painted himself as the most sympathetic of characters with Stacey's disappearance, his upcoming trial in the death of his third wife Kathleen Savio, and his general dickishness. By God if he isn't entertaining.
