Nick And Nora Host A Variety Show

Local musician Nora Brank, previously a drummer for Bird Names, and her boyfriend Nic Maier of the Everything is Terrible collective are starting their own variety show. The Nick and Nora Variety Hour will be hosted by, of course, Brank and Maier, and is dedicated to showcasing Chicago music and talent.

Brank tells the Chicago Reader that it’ll mimic The Sonny & Cher Comedy Hour (and its failure of a revival The Sonny & Cher Show) of the ‘70s, including the opening music and comedy skit. The show will air on CAN TV, channels 19 and 21, but you can also catch it on the show’s Tumblr site.

The first episode, which is scheduled to air “soon,” will feature April Camlin (drummer of Wume) ventriloquizing. The musical portion will be a performance by Ryan Sullivan and Eric Lee Gale of electro-pop project Golden Birthday. Here’s a little taste—Nic and Nora made a trailer for episode one:
