Indiana Couple Kept Teenage Son In A Cage

By Samantha Abernethy in News on Dec 15, 2011 11:40PM

A couple in Lake County, Ind., have been arrested for keeping their teenage son locked in a dog kennel, as well as whipping him and threatening him with guns and knives. Fortunately the boy was able to report the abuse to authorities before his mother and her boyfriend could cause him too much harm. CBS writes:

“He described the worst time of being locked in the kennel occurring on a particular Saturday when he was locked in the kennel in the morning and not permitted to exit the kennel until the next day,” an investigator said in a probable cause affidavit. “His mother and her fiancĂ© would regularly eat dinner and stare at him or mock him while he remained locked in the kennel.”

If that story-line sounds sadly familiar, you may be thinking of Christian Choate, the young boy whose body was discovered in Lake County, Ind., earlier this year. He died in 2009 after his father and step-mother kept him in a cage.
