Jeff Tweedy Does Weather, Provides "Supplemental Hair" on WGN Morning News

By Chuck Sudo in Arts & Entertainment on Dec 15, 2011 4:40PM

Wilco made a much-promoted appearance on WGN Morning news this morning, their first performance on a morning news show.

Tweedy and company performed... let's call them "busker" versions of "The Whole Love" and "Dawned on Me" on the show. That's how much effort WGN placed into the sound mix.

The highlight of Wilco's appearance was definitely Tweedy, who displayed more of his sardonic humor answering Dean Richards's questions about whether the band wrote their new album with a Grammy nomination in mind, and when Tweedy jumped in to help Paul Konrad with the weather. "The last thing you want to see is some guy from Wilco doing the weather," he deadpanned. We especially like Tweedy's comment about a seven-day forecast being "optimistic" with all these clouds in the sky.

The band, of course, will be playing five sold out shows at five different venues across town this week and, for fans who didn't get tickets, this morning's appearance with Larry, Robin and the gang was a great opportunity to see the band in a live setting, albeit with a bad mix. The only thing Wilco was missing was a coffee can for tips in front of Tweedy.
