2012_1_3_growing_power.jpg Today's complex food challenges can be solved, and Growing Power Chicago is one of the organizations that hopes to contribute to the solutions. On Jan. 13, Growing Power is hosting "A Night of Food Justice and Urban Farming," a networking event to share and support ideas and best practices for implementing local solutions to a global food system.

A $20 suggested donation gets you drinks, hors d'oeuvres, a silent auction, a tour of Growing Power Chicago's Bridgeport farm and music by local band Zamin. All proceeds from the event are supporting the Bold Food Fellows, a group traveling to Kenya and Uganda this spring for an international exchange on urban and peri-urban agriculture. The fellows are also collecting books on public health, environmental or agricultural issues for their upcoming trip and every little bit helps. Advance tickets can be purchased here.

"A Night of Food Justice and Urban Farming" at Growing Power Chicago (3336 S. Iron St., Chicago), 6-9 p.m. Jan. 13.
