With recent sightings of coyotes on the North side fresh in our minds, we came across this photo in the Chicagoist Photos Flickr pool from John W. Iwanski, aka "Chicago Man", taken Dec. 30.

Iwanski describes the scene:

"This coyote was at Division & Clybourn today, in the cold rain.

"I wish I would've gotten more shots of it, but it ran under a porch. The rain was getting pretty heavy, and I had to catch a bus."

It looks like the coyote was having the lay of the land at City Farm, which is located right at that intersection. the tarp behind the coyote and the buckets at the front of the photo also seem to indicate that. And, boy, does that coyote look like he didn't want his photo taken.

I was at REI about a month ago and heard what I thought was a bunch of dogs howling in the vacant lot across the street at Clybourn and Halsted, perhaps it was a pack of coyotes. On an unrelated note, I've since lost the overpriced gloves I purchased that night.
