Get Out Your Finest Knickers For The Pantsless CTA Ride

2009_01_pantsless1.JPG

Put on your nicest underroos and get ready to show them off — or just see some nice cold legs — because the annual No Pants CTA ride is coming up on Sunday, Jan. 8. It's the 11th year for the No Pants Subway Ride, which was created in New York City in 2002 by the group Improv Everywhere. Each year, nationwide, folks drop their trousers and take their legs out for some chilly January public transportation.

The group meets at noon on Sunday at their chosen subway station. The goal is to pretend like everything is normal, as if you were just headed to work and staring at your phone. Then people exit the train at different stations and spread out then "depants." Remember: You should pretend this is a totally normal thing to do, and you shouldn't be talking to your new pantsless friends yet. If some pants-wearing person asks why, pretend it's totally normal. Thongs and g-strings are strongly discouraged.

Join the fun on the group's Facebook event page.

Why must my pantsless CTA  rides be limited to but one day a year?

  • FYI, I will be making my now ever so famous Chicago version of the No Pants Subway Ride video again.  Look for it Monday morning.  Should I tweet it to you?
