Is That A Traffic Citation In Your Pants, Or Are You Just Happy To See Me?

Is that a traffic citation in your pants, or are you just happy to see me? How about both? According to a U.S. District Court lawsuit in Chicago, after issuing her a ticket, a Stickney police officer tracked down Evangelina Paredes to ask her out on a date. “…hey, I did cost you $132—least I can do is buy you dinner.” How chivalrous. Then again, we were always under the impression that capturing a cop’s interest would get you out of that ticket on the spot.

Not only is Officer Chris Collins accused of violating Paredes’ privacy by using motor-vehicle records to get her address, but in an even creepier romantic gesture, he left a handwritten note on the windshield of her car outside her apartment two days after issuing the ticket.

“I know this may seem crazy and you’re probably right," the letter stated, "but truth is I have not stopped thinking about you since. I don’t expect a girl as attractive as you to . . . even go for a guy like me, but I’m taking a shot anyways.”

Apparently he then goes on to say that he would understand if Paredes did not get in touch. Really? Then maybe he also understands how she would show her disgust by turning the letter over to authorities and filing a lawsuit against him.
