Man Arrested For Surfing Oak Street Beach

Yes, Virginia, there is surfing on Lake Michigan. Surfing Oak Street Beach, however, may not be a good idea.
40-year-old Rex Flodsrtrom*mdash;Isn't "Rex" a perfect surfing name?—was arrested after he was caught surfing Oak Street Beach around 5 p.m. yesterday. Flodstrom faces a count of disorderly conduct, two counts of violating a Chicago Park District ordinance and one count of being in a park after hours; Chicago beaches are closed until May 25.
We don't begrudge Flodstrom his wish to surf Lake Michigan; winter is the best time for it. But that's why most surfing enthusiasts take to the Indiana border to catch a wave.
