One For The Road: Johnny Otis's "Hand Jive"

Not only did we lose Etta James last week, but we also lost the man who discovered her. Johnny Otis died last week at the age of 90. Otis considered himself a member of the black community, despite his pure Greek background. He was a political activist, a preacher, an artist, an author and he discovered Etta James, Jackie Wilson, Esther Phillips and Big Mama Thornton.

You'll definitely recognize Otis's song "Hand Jive" as performed below, but you might think it only existed in the movie Grease. It was also later covered by Eric Clapton among many more.
