Is Ferris Bueller Making An Ad For Honda?

Automobile news blog Jalopnik says it knows what Matthew Broderick's cryptic teaser video is really about, and it's not a sequel to Ferris Bueller's Day Off. Jalopnik reports Broderick will reprise his role as Ferris Bueller for an ad for Honda.

A source familiar with Honda's operations hinted to us earlier this year that the company was going to do a Ferris Bueller-style ad for the Super Bowl starring none other than Matthew Broderick.

The source also added that the spot was going to mimic much of the original film, except this time prominently featuring Hondas. The big jump the two valets do in Cameron's dad's Ferrari? We hear this time it's going to be a Honda CR-V.

So that's that. The 1961 Ferrari 250GT California that Cameron's dad spent three years restoring? Now it's a Honda CR-V. I guess that means the tagline will be "It is so choice. If you have the means, I highly recommend picking one up."

And what would the real Ferris Bueller think of using his character in the name of consumerism? "-Ism's in my opinion are not good. A person should not believe in an -ism. He should believe in himself."

Mia Sara and Alan Ruck better be in the ad as well.  Otherwise, lost opportunity.

  • The idea that Ferris and Sloane are still in contact just doesn't seem believable to me. They would have gone their separate ways as soon as they graduated and went to college. The breakup probably would have been rough.

But I'll bet Ferris and Cameron still talk all the time.

  • after all Ferris would have wanted an accountant that was a friend.
