Chicago native Rebecca Goldschmidt is the founder of Bay Area arts and culture blog Big Things. Big Things' focus goes beyond San Francisco; Goldschmidt has written about and created happenings in Portland, Chicago, Istanbul, Berlin and everywhere in between.

Goldschmidt is planning a year-long series of event called Big Big City that aims to tie arts communities across the country. Big Big City's kickoff event is a pop-up art market from 5-9 p.m. next Tuesday at Public Works Gallery in Wicker Park.

Big Big City Chicago will feature the photography of local photographer Debbie Carlos; local art and design collective The Post Factory; Boyfrien Girlfrien (an online resale shop and handbag maker); photographer Jeremy Edwards; Chuyu Wear (a jewelry line from SAIC alum Hana Kulovic); designer vintage clothing boutique La Chanteuse; Ashley Alexander's line of stationery, totes and accessories I'm Smitten; and makers of hand printed greeting cards Nourishing Notes.

Red Hen Bread will provide noshes and Julio Navaja of Del mas Alla will play music. Proceeds from the event will benefit 826Chicago. a bake sale will also be held, along with raffle prizes from Revolution Brewing.
