Wicker Park "Space" Invaders Plan New Barcade

The Pipeline reports that a makers former manager of Brooklyn's BarCade is bringing a similar concept to Chicago, opening Emporium Arcade Bar in Wicker Park. Not only will you be able to play all your old childhood favorites, there will be 18 to 24 varieties of craft brews on tap.

The bar will thrive on nostalgic games, not that Dave and Buster's crap. The Pipeline writes:

About 75% of the games will be from the 1980s era, and the other quarter will hail from the NBA Jam 90s time period. In case you're curious, that game where you dance on the squares that light up will not be part of the mix (yes, we asked.)

They're opening in a 3,000-square-foot space at 1366 N. Milwaukee adjacent to Barry's Drugs in mid-March. Start stocking up on quarters now.

  • I wonder what government officials they paid off to get their variance.

  • Who knows what this place will be like, but I really liked BarCade.  The fact that the owners of that are involved here bodes well.

This is Logan Hardware's perfect opportunity to offer games that matter over games that appeal to coke-sniffing mouth-breathers in Ray-Bans.

Just like the music, movies, recycled fashion and 'tude.  What a vacuous, mindless, creatively bankrupt generation.
