Former Survivor Frontman Sings Gingrich's Book On The Colbert Report

Former Survivor frontman Dave Bickler appeared on The Colbert Report last night to poke some fun at Newt Gingrich. As payback for using the song "Eye of the Tiger" without permission—or as Stephen Colbert put it, "an eye for an eye of the tiger"—Bickler read Gingrich's book A Nation Like No Other to the tune of the song he so famously sang.

One of the band's founding members, Frank Sullivan, filed the lawsuit against Gingrich. His former band partner Jim Peterik, who co-authored "Eye of the Tiger," disagrees with the lawsuit, and he went on Fox Chicago to talk about it and played the song on his guitar.

By the way, we checked Wikipedia to see how many more Survivor band members can use this Gingrich story for publicity. Well, first we found that the band is actually still active, and Frank Sullivan is still a member, so any reports saying "former Survivor member" are incorrect. It seems Survivor has had a high turnover rate, too, so after Peterik and Bickler there are still 14 "past members" and four current members who can milk this.

And did you know Bickler also did those "Real Men of Genius" Bud Light ads? The more you know...

I did not know the group was still "alive". Once again a band has not been pronounced dead, even though only it's groupies knows it isn't.
