"You want out of this parking lot? Ok."

Dixie Square Mall has been closed almost twice as long as it has been open. It famously was the set for a Blues Brothers chase scene, and it was abandoned when they filmed it in 1979. And now the big eyesore is finally coming down.

The Tribune writes:

"The former Dixie Square Mall was once the heart of a thriving industrial community," said Harvey Mayor Eric Kellogg. "However, the filming of this movie left the city of Harvey with an eyesore that has become one of the oldest white elephants in the country."

Demolition will be done in about six months, then officials hope new shopping options will replace it. Maybe someday you'll be able to drive through that area and say, "This place has got everything." Until then, watch the movie clip below, then a video on the filming of the scene. Or watch NBC's footage of the demolition.
