Pencil This In: Return Of The Living Dead At DOC Films

By Chuck Sudo in Arts & Entertainment on Feb 29, 2012 6:20PM

2012_2_29_PTi.jpg The University of Chicago's DOC Films continues what Rob Christopher called arguably its best season of programming ever tomorrow night by teaming up with U of C's campus radio station, WHPK, for its "Roxploitation" series with a screening of Return of the Living Dead at 9:15 p.m. tomorrow. Dan O'Bannon's 1985 film walks a fine line between camp and true horror, as this is the film that introduced the concept of zombies craving human brains, as opposed to only human flesh.

Another selling point of the film is the soundtrack, featuring classic punk and deathrock acts of the era like The Cramps, TSOL, SSQ and The Damned, which help to further the plot of three punks dealing with a zombie outbreak.

Tickets to tomorrow's screening is $5. DOC Films is located at Ida Noyes Hall (1212 E. 59th St.)
