One contestant on the new reality music show The Voice is Chicago native Jesse Campbell, and last night he advanced to the next round as a member of Christina Aguilera's team. Campbell, 42, grew up in Maywood, but moved to California to pursue his singing dream. NBC writes:

After moving to California, he and his daughter lived in his car while he pursuing his musical career. "I know that I have a great gift and talent and I am going to be here because I believe California is the best place for me. So if it means that I have sleep in my car then that's what I'm going to do," he said.

Below Campbell performs "If I Ain't Got You" competing against fellow contestant Anthony Evans. Watch more performances from The Voice on NBC.com. Campbell will perform again on Monday, March 12.
