Fiscally beleaguered Rep. Joe Walsh is still having money troubles. Walsh, who will run against either Tammy Duckworth or Raja Krishnamoorthi, managed to raise only $38,300 in the first two months of this year. At present, reports show Walsh owes $24,015 in legal fees. Politico reports he’s spent three times as much, but still has nearly $400,000 in his war chest. In addition to his campaign finance woes, Walsh still allegedly owes $117,000 in child support.

In an effort to raise some more campaign cash for the Congressman, a private cocktail reception was held at the Union League Club last night, where an individual ticket price set attendees back $500. At the beginning of the reception, nearly 60 protesters from the groups Stand Up Chicago and Action Now gathered outside, some of whom attempted to roll out a “human red carpet” at the entrance. No arrests were made, and Walsh didn’t appear anywhere outside the building.
