Video Captures Cop Choking Out Mouthy St. Patrick's Day Reveler [UPDATE]]

By Chuck Sudo in News on Mar 20, 2012 8:20PM

We griped enough over the weekend about how St. Patrick's Day is an amateur hour. (For a more eloquent take on the dread that accompanies the holiday, please read Whet Moser's take on the holiday at Chicago magazine.) Here's video proof of our fears realized, via FM 101.1. Frankly, we're surprised there aren't more videos like this floating about, or maybe we're doing a good job of ignoring them. (Discretion advised.)

There's a lot of wrong in this video, starting with the fact that someone should have pulled Napoleon away from the cop. Whatever the officer is telling the kid before lifting him off the ground by his neck didn't seem to have a calming effect, if the cop wasn't egging him along.

FM 101.1 reports the Police Department is investigating the incident.

Update There's also a longer video of the incident (nearly 8 minutes in length) that shows the man who was choked by the cop instigating fights with bouncers at Slugger's in Wrigleyville, and the girl who tried to intervene getting into fights with other girls. The end result is still the same: kid mouths off to cop, cop chokes kid. See below.
