Nerd alert. HBO’s fantasy series Game of Thrones returns for a second season this Sunday. The series is based on author George R.R. Martin’s popular Song of Ice and Fire novels. The show portrays the Seven Kingdoms of Westeros and the struggle for control of the Iron Throne. The second season will cover the second novel, A Clash of Kings. We are prepared for more intrigue, sex, lies, love, conspiracies, betrayal, revenge, wolf puppies, swordfighting, and plenty of nudity. (And let’s be honest. When you come down to it, what else do you really want in a show?)

If you’re throwing a viewing party or even just watching on your own, there are some great websites out there for making GoT recipes. In honor of the return, we’ve put together our own Ice and Fire-inspired cocktail. Enjoy it this Sunday with the show, and don’t forget, a Lannister always pays his debts.

Chicagoist’s Game of Thrones "Ice & Fire" Cocktail (makes 1 very strong cocktail)

You’ll need:
1.5 oz Cinnamon schnapps
3 oz shots bourbon
1 cup apple cider
½ cup Red Hots or other hard cinnamon candy
Cocktail shaker filled with ice
Tall glass filled with ice
Cinnamon stick, for garnish (optional)

How to make it:
Pour apple cider in a small saucepan and heat over medium heat on the stove. Add Red Hots and stir until dissolved. Remove from the heat and set aside to cool.

When cooled, pour into cocktail shaker filled with ice. Add cinnamon schnapps and bourbon and shake. Pour into the tall glass filled with ice. If desired, garnish with a cinnamon stick.
