Mayor Rahm Emanuel will make a cameo appearance in the pilot for a new drama series called Chicago Fire that is filming in the city. "It's easier being mayor than playing mayor," Emanuel told NBC. "I told them I’d do it under one condition: the TV show is making an investment to the firefighter's widow and orphans fund.”

The series was filming in town this week, closing off the Columbus Street Bridge on Wednesday to film a car accident and fire. Just to clarify, the show is about the fire department, not the soccer team. It is being produced by Dick Wolfe, who also created all four Law & Order series and Miami Vice, which makes us optimistic the pilot will be picked up for a series.

NBC did a piece that includes some views of the scenery on Columbus this week.
