Time Out Chicago Critics Take On McDonald's, Burger King

By Anthony Todd in Food on Apr 4, 2012 5:40PM

Burger King rolled out new, "healthier" menu items on Monday, and David Tamarkin, Julia Kramer and Maura Brannigan at Time Out Chicago put the dishes to the test. It must have been a pretty long lunch - they went through chicken strips, smoothies, snack wraps, frappes and salads. The actual results aren't all that surprising (they don't love bad, mass-produced fast food - shocker) but some of the quotes from the critics made us laugh out loud at our desk.

Go read the whole post, but here are a couple of the highlights:

On chicken strips
Tamarkin: "This is not food."

On snack wraps
Tamarkin: "I’m so unhappy.” “How is this a food?” “I truly believe this explains every societal problem which the world is facing, of which there are many and growing.

McDonald's came out ahead overall, and the new offerings at Burger King? If you trust the critics, probably best to avoid them. On the other hand, we're pretty sure their selection as McDonald's as the "winner" is not mean to imply an endorsement.
