Morning Box Score: Cubs Bury Cards, LaHair Records First Career Grand Slam

For the World Series champions it was a rude home opener as the Cubs embarrassed Adam Wainwright with a 8-0 leader after the first three three innnings. Cubs third baseman Ian Stewart connected for a three-run homer in the first for a 4-0 start. Wainwright corrected the ship in the second, but Bryan LaHair hit his first career grand slam in the third to give the Cubs an 8-0 lead. Starlin Castro also knocked in an RBI in the fourth to make it 9-0. Castro also had three hits, a walk and a steal. The Cards rallied in the fifth with a five run inning, but the Cubs managed to hold off the World Series champs for their third win of the season. After the first six games only netted a combined 19 runs, the Cubs have now scored 17 runs in the last two games.
