Wicker Park stomping ground the Double Door is teaming up with a handful of local acts for a benefit show this Thursday to help raise funds for Rudy Carillo, the venue’s security guard who was hit by a car back in February.

The Double Door reveals that Carillo was riding home from a show at 3 a.m. when he was struck by a car that sped off, breaking and dislocating his jaw. There were no witnesses around to help, but he was able to walk home to his girlfriend, who drove him to the emergency room. Carillo underwent reconstructive surgery on his face and jaw, but he still faces permanent damage from the incident as well as mounting medical costs. Thursday night’s benefit show hopes to ease the burden of his expenses.

If the story alone isn’t enough incentive to donate, the benefit show will feature a lineup of Chicago-based rockers. Headlining will be AM Taxi, with support from Dummy, Hammerdown, Rotten Finko and The Convicts, and Villains Company. New Belgium Brewing is donating a keg of Fresh Hop IPA for the event, and 100% of the proceeds from the keg and the show will go to Carillo.

The Rudy Carillo Benefit show is Thursday, April 19 at the Double Door, 1572 N Milwaukee, 8 p.m., $10, 21+
