How many times have you heard someone say with disdain, “I can do that” in reference to a piece of art? Artists and art appreciators alike often counter with “But you didn’t do it” or insist the concept behind the work is what makes it matter. But sometimes art is just bad.

I CAN DO THAT gives you the opportunity to go ahead and try. Visitors of the exhibition will find the art supplies the artist used in front of each piece. They have the option to add to the work as they see fit or use a blank canvas to replicate the work. Since the show opened on April 13, the continually changing work has been documented on curator Jenny Lam's blog.

Tonight is your last chance to actively interact with the 70 works of art by over 40 artists from around the world. The closing reception at Variable Space will include a storytelling performance with audience participation, live nude painting, and the chance to leave your mark on the work in whatever way you want.

The closing reception for I CAN DO THAT is this evening from 7-10 p.m. at Variable Space, (1564 N. Damen Ave. #303). Admission is free.
