Well this is terrible news for Bulls fans—in the final minutes of today's game against the 76ers, Derrick Rose fell to the floor with a knee injury. A Bulls press release just confirmed that Rose tore his ACL and is out for the rest of the season.
It's been an injury-filled season for Rose, but this is obviously worse than the other woes he suffered throughout the season. As Benjy noted in his recap of today's game:
The tone of the playoffs have changed dramatically with the potential loss of Rose. While the Bulls excelled all season in the wake of countless injuries, and managed a 17-9 record during Rose's various regular season absences, the playoffs are a different beast. Even if the Bulls can move past the Sixers, the expectations for a shot at a title run may have disappeared in an instant just one game into the postseason.
